Every Day Minerals

Most people are aware that I don't wear makeup or at the most I just wear tented moisturizer with sun screen. I'm turning 30 in a few weeks and have been taking a long look at myself. There are many things in life that I can not change but I can change the fact that when people look at me they not only see freckles (can't change) they also see the sun spots and age spots on my cheeks. I hunted for a week or so looking for makeup that I thought I could wear that would still look natural but do what I wanted it to. I am very picky about my hair and skin so I was trying to look for something with natural ingredients. I read about Every Day Minerals in a magazine and looked it up on the net. I couldn't believe how much of their product they offered in a free sample and it was all natural. I ordered my free sample and got it in this weeks. I am so happy with the light weight make up and the ease of applying it. I have been bragging about it all week and the ladies at work were equally impressed they all ordered a sample also. Breanna's Turn

So we got all of Christian's projects done just to find out Friday that Breanna had a project due on Monday. Her board on China looked great. I think the chop sticks really set off everything. She then had to cook this great Cashew Chicken. We only got to taste a small piece of chicken as she had to have enough for the whole class to sample. We just sat and stared at the beautiful food waiting for the rice to finish cooking. It was so hard to resist not eating it. The recipe was so good that I wrote it in my cook book so we can have it for supper someday.

Breanna's Recipe:

Cashew Chicken

1lb boneless chicken, cut into pieces
3/4 c orange juice
1/3 c honey
1/4 c soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tbsp veg oil
4 green onions cut up
3 large carrots, cleaned sliced
2 celery stalks
1 c cashews

1.) For sauce combine juice, soy sauce, honey, cornstarch & seasonings.
2.) Heat 1 tbsp oil until it begins to smoke. Stir fry vegetables for several minutes. Remove from wok.
3.) Heat another tbsp of oil until smoking and stir fry chicken until browned and tender.
4.) Add cooked vegetables, cashews, and sauce mix. Continue cooking until sauce bubbles and thickens.
Serve over rice. Makes 6 servings.

Hopefully this is the last project this nine weeks. I never knew public school could be so expensive.
I'm always looking for new recipes to feed my family. If you have anything you think we would enjoy, please share them.

Indians

Christian had another history project to do this nineweeks. I honestly don't think any class should have 2 projects in the same nine weeks. He had to build a indian home using all natural material. No glue or man made material could be showing at all. It ended up being a whole family effort. Christian and Scott worked very hard on this one. They built all the inside using grape vines. Breanna and I helped get them started with a idea on the outside. Christian decided on the rock trim and the fire pits with seating. The home was complete with a fur carpet. All his hard work paid off. He made a 95%.

Valentine's Day/Birthday

Scott wanted a very expensive Birthday present this year. He wanted a High Point 45 pistol. That's not what I planned on getting him. However, he really wanted it and told me exactly how much it was at each of the different places in town that carried it. I called a couple of places and they didn't have it in stock and one place told me they couldn't even get it. I broke down and told him that he wasn't going to get it. . . that I couldn't find it anywhere in town. He then told me that one of the pawn shops in town carried them. Sure enough they had one is stock. I went the next day on my lunch hour and got cash out of the bank because they only take cash or credit card and he would know what I was doing if I used the debit card. Anyway I went to buy it and they sold it the day before. . . I couldn't believe it. I have never got him exactly what he wanted and I couldn't find it in town. The gentleman at the shop took down my number and said he would call if he could get one in. I didn't hear from him that afternoon so the next morning I started calling all the towns near by that maybe some how I could sneek off to. No one had it or was able to get one for me. Then the guy from the pawn shop called me and said he had one on the way if I still wanted it. I couldn't believe it. I had been looking for this gun for about two weeks and I didn't even know what it looked like, so of course I said I wanted it. I expected him to call me in a week or so and he called me about 2 hours later and I went and bought it that day on my lunch hour. It is very hard for me to keep a secret from Scott (and I was out of money) so I gave him the gun along with some books on gost hunting and big foot for his Valentine's Day/ Birthday present.

Since he got the gun this is how it has set next to his computer so he can stare at it whenever he wants. He hasn't had the chance to shoot it yet. I'm sure this isn't too safe. . . . Men presents are so hard to buy!

Resolutions are hard. . .

I had such high hopes with our new years resolutions. I wanted everyone, mainly Scott and I to feel better. It's funny; the things that I thought would be the hardest has been alot easier that the easy stuff should be. Smoking and beer drinking have been some what easy. The hard part has been eating less food. It is really hard for me to cut back from my extreamly large plate of spaghetti which is my favorite food. Drinking less pop was easy for the first several weeks but I have drifted back into my old rutt. Not only that but with the rotation of sickness in our house, homework, and school projects (yes we have been working on the second history project this nineweeks) we haven't felt like or had time to go to the gym. This is sad it is only February and we are already having trouble. Now that we are all healthy and the school project will be turned in on Monday, we are planning on starting back to the gym on Monday. It is so hard to schedule a hour a night for the gym when we don't get off work until 5 and the it closes at 9. I know with exercise, I was sleeping much better and actually feeling rested. Hopefully we will be able to get back on track and stay that way this time.

Breanna has been doing really good on being healthy. She is still not drinking any pop. Most of her snacks consists of healthy stuff like carrots, apples and peanut butter. I am so proud of her. I'm going to try and follow her example.

LET IT SNOW!

We finally got some much wanted/needed snow. Scott and I had to work all day so we didn't get to play in the snow. We did take the time to make a snow man in the dark. If you look closely you can tell he has a mohawk, eyebrows, and a gotee. It was so cold that after about 15 - 20 minutes we had to come in.

Thanks Kim!

Scott's sister Kim takes the best photos. This is just a snapshot she took at the Daisy Queen in Marshall and look how great it turned out. This is one of the best photos I have ever had taken of me. I can't wait to have our family photos done. Check out her photos at http://kimlowery.com.

Basketball

Unfortantly, my schedule doesn't match up with my nephews as often as it use to so I don't get to go to as many of their games as I use to. I had forgotten that 7th grade games start at 4:30 or 5:00. Most people don't get off work until them. I did get to go to one of each of their basketball games. Justin shoots for two.
Trevor for two. Can't believe there wasn't a foul there.
