While we were at Cuz camp they had a fishing derby for kids where they stocked a cove with catfish. After it was over we went down and fished. We had a guy give us about 18 catfish which Scott told everyone he caught. I caught 12 more to add to that, Kristy 4, Sandy 2 maybe 3 (I can't remember I was too busy fishing) , D.J. 1, and Mike 1. I can't believe we caught that many. No one took any with them so we ended up bringing home about 40 fish to clean.
Scott had never cleaned a fish before and I had only watched it done when I was a kid. We had my dad come over and show us how it was done.
Scott caught on fast. He looked like an old pro.
I tried my hand at it. I wasn't so good at it.
I did finally get a little bit of meat off the one that I work on for what seamed like forever.
Yuck what a mess!!!
We took some fish over to my mom's Tuesday night for a good 'ol fish fry. We had fried catfish, homemade hush puppies, and boiled cabbage. I think dad and grandpa really enjoyed it. After all the hard work catching and cleaning the fish, it tasted great.
